Battle Ground Plein Air Contest 2026

Grand prize: $200 framing and display at Aurora Gallery.
$200 People’s Choice cash prize.
$100 Honorable mention cash prize.
Official Rules
All artists welcome.
Contest date: June 27, any time from 9 AM to 6 PM. (For any participants that wish to start earlier than 9 AM, please let us know.)
Artists will paint any plein air subject they wish during the contest.
Artists may travel to other locations to paint, but must have their canvases stamped (on the back) before painting.
After finishing, pieces will be displayed at the Art Barn for the reception at 6 PM.
Before the contest, artists can sign up via a website www.michaeldelavar.com/plein-air-contest-2026.
Early registration is $20. After June 13, registration is $30 and may be paid online or at the event.
Artists will have their canvases stamped on the back before they begin painting.
The initial meeting place will be at Cheryl’s Art Barn 12911 NE 87th Ave, Vancouver, WA 98662.
Participants will sign a waiver holding the organizers harmless for accidents or injury.
Participants will be encouraged to get permission before painting on any private property.
A reception will then be held at the Art Barn that would include voting by the public and awards handed out for:
Judges’ Prize: $200 worth of framing by Aurora Gallery and be on display in Aurora Gallery for one month. The judges (Michael Delavar, Cheryl Herndon, and one guest judge) will vote for the best painting.
People’s Choice: $200. Voted on by artists and attendees at the reception.
Honorable Mention: $100. Second place as voted on by attendees.
Any other award that seems appropriate to add, if we have additional sponsors or more than 20 entries.
Artwork may be available for sale, 100% to the artist.
Participants are responsible for their own food during the day.
